Easter Craft Activity – 3 fun ideas to do with young children

With the current lockdown, most parents are having to try and keep their children busy. Its a challenging time for us all, but, for children, especially younger ones, its difficult for them to understand what is going on. Keeping them busy and having fun activities to do each day is vital during this time. So, I am going to try and blog some ideas each week, starting with Easter craft activity. Here are 3 ideas to get you started!

1. Easter Chick Painting

With Easter fast approaching, I thought these little Easter Chick’s would brighten everyone’s day and make a great Easter craft activity. You may not have yellow paint, so you may have to improvise, but apart from the paint all you need is a fork and a pen! Thanks to Masandpas.com for this idea. Step 1: Start printing

Dip the back of your fork into yellow paint and print onto a piece of paper or card.

Keep adding more and more prints, moving round in a circle to start making your little chick.

Step 2: Print your fluffy chick

Keep printing with your fork until you have covered a complete circle.

Overlap the fork prints to make your chick nice and fluffy.

Step 3: Add the eyes, beak and legs

Cut out a small triangle of orange felt or card and glue in place for the beak. Then stick on some fun eyes. Or alternatively, draw your eyes and beak with a pen.

Finish by drawing in the legs.

You could also use your fork printing method to create a variety of animals.

2. Recycled toilet roll Easter bunny stamp

I thought it would be nice to continue the theme of Easter, so here is another Easter craft activity that only needs some toilet rolls and paint. Very inexpensive but so much fun.

To begin, fold one side of a toilet paper roll to a sharp point and then do the same for a second toilet toll and that is the ears. Then using hot glue or sellotape stick them to the circular toilet roll. Allow to dry. It is important to make sure that your toilet rolls are all even at the end for printing. Get your child to dip the stamp into some paint and then press carefully onto some paper or a paper plate. Once dry, use felt tips to add the eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers. How about getting your child to make some cards with a bunny on the front to send to the ones you love, if they are unable to see them at Easter.

3. Easter Hand Print Animals

Most young children love hand painting. It’s messy but lots of fun. Why not create an Easter Chick or maybe an Easter Bunny.

I found the best way to do hand painting is to use a paintbrush to cover the hand, as this makes sure the hand is fully covered and a little less messy. Once you handprints are dry, add in the eyes, nose and mouth and any other decorations.
