Newborn and Sibling Portraiture in Surrey

I love photographing newborns with their siblings.  Its such a special time and not only do the parents get some beautiful images of their children, in years to come, the children will be able to look back at these special photographs of themselves.

I am more than happy to photograph siblings during a newborn shoot.  I do advise parents to bring the sibling along at the beginning of the session, so we can do sibling shots first, so then they can be taken home and they do not need to sit around for the rest of the session, which can be up to 3 hours.

I normally wrap the newborn at the beginning and start with a shot of them on their own, so that the other child, can get used to me and see what I am doing.  It may feel slightly worrying for the child at the beginning of the session, when they are being photographed by a stranger, but I make sure I do everything to make them feel comfortable and relaxed.  We often play some games to help them relax and enjoy themselves and I will perhaps get them involved by getting them to trigger the flash with a button or showing them their picture on the back of my camera.  I also have some toys to engage them and get their attention.
