What do I need to buy to prepare for the arrival of my newborn?

Preparing for the arrival of your new baby may be slightly daunting with so much to think about.  Not only are there so many items to buy and so many brands, it becomes confusing over what do you really need.

I remember when my first child was born, I thought I remembered everything, but still managed to forget to pack some sleep suits for my little one in my hospital bag – so my son when born had to wear a nappy and some socks for the first hour!
